Selena Qunitanilla was born in Lake Jackson (which is close enough to Houston to get her on the list of famous Houstonians) on the 16^th. She was best known as a Tejano singer but also was a song writer, producer, actress, dancer, model and designer. She is touted as the Queen of Tejano and was a rising star when her first English speaking album was released. She was met her untimely death when she was murdered in 1995 at the age of 23. Her legacy still lives on today as her music is still popular in the genre.
