For all intents and purposes Katy, Texas is a part of Houston so we will certainly count this famous Houstonian born on the 25th and raised here too. Renee Zellweger is an actress with many critically acclaimed roles under her belt. She won an Academy Award for her role in Cold Mountain and was nominated for her roles in Chicago and Bridget Jones’s Diary. She has been nominated for three and won three Golden Globes and a variety of other awards throughout her career. She first rose to fame with her portrayal of Dorothy Boyd in Jerry Maguire. Additional performances include roles in Empire Records, Nurse Betty, Me Myself and Irene, White Oleander, Shark Tale, Cinderella Man, Bee Movie and Monsters Vs. Aliens.
Shane McDermott born on the 24th is a famous Houstonian who had a few roles, most notably in the movie Airborne. He also appeared in several television series including All My Children, Law and Order, Swans Crossing and The Babysitters Club. Currently he lives in Galveston and has a thriving career as an artist.
Cindy Picket was born April 18th, was born in Bellaire, raised here in Houston and has two roles she is known for. The first is her role as Jackie Spaulding on Guiding Light in the 1970’s and the other is in Ferris Beuller’s Day Off as Ferris’ mother. She has numerous other roles on television and the big screen. Of note are Night Games, Magnum PI, I Know My First Name is Steven and Hyperion Bay with guest appearances on numerous television series.
Jennifer Garner is a famous Houston actress born on the 17th. She has a well known career with roles in movies such as Dude Where’s My Car, Pearl Harbor, Catch Me if you Can, Daredevil, 13 Going on 30, Elektra and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. However, she may be best known for her portrayal of Sydney Bristow in Alias. She is currently working on multiple projects in production and is married to Ben Affleck.
Selena Qunitanilla was born in Lake Jackson (which is close enough to Houston to get her on the list of famous Houstonians) on the 16th. She was best known as a Tejano singer but also was a song writer, producer, actress, dancer, model and designer. She is touted as the Queen of Tejano and was a rising star when her first English speaking album was released. She was met her untimely death when she was murdered in 1995 at the age of 23. Her legacy still lives on today as her music is still popular in the genre.
Ann Miller was born on the 12th of April and was a singer, dancer and actress born in Chireno, Texas and raised in Houston. She was born Johnnie Lucille Ann Collier because her father wanted a boy but was called Ann. She started her career as a dancer at age 13 by lying and saying she was really 18. She had roles in some of the most famous production in film and on Broadway including Sugar Babies, Anne of Green Gables, You can’t Take it with You, Kiss Me Kate and Mulholland Dr. Her career spanned nearly seventy years before she died in 2004 from cancer.
Today is my birthday. I am planning on going to Rainbow Lodge for dinner and then something fun. I am not quite sure what I will do but as long as I am with my friends and family I will be happy. I can not believe I am 40 today. Yuck.

April 9th is the day famous Houstonian Dennis Quaid was born. He was also raised in Houston with his famous brothers who all turned to acting eventually. Dennis is well known for his roles in Breaking Away, The Right Stuff, Enemy Mine, Innerspace, Great Balls of Fire, The Parent Trap, Any Given Sunday, The Day After Tomorrow, Vantage Point and many others. His trademark grin is rivaled only by his critically acclaimed performances and he is considered one of the best underrated actors of our generation.
Neither born nor raised in Houston but Tom Delay is certainly a famous resident allowing him to make the list of Famous Houstonians celebrating their birthday in April. Born on the 8th, this Republican Party House Majority Leader graduated from the University of Houston and went on to quite a colorful career in politics. Regardless of your political stance, though, you have to admit he surprised you as to how well he did on Dancing with the Stars. That doesn’t mean he was good mind you but it was not quite as bad a disaster as I envisioned.
Born and raised in Houston, Damon Pampolina born on the 6th is most noted for his participation in the All New Mickey Mouse Club from 1989 to 1993. Since then he has done some voiceovers Freedom: First Resistance and appeared on MTV’s mini series Undressed.
